Our mission is to improve the adoption of AR and open the way to usable lightweight glasses. Many companies currently face significant hurdles in converting desktop applications to augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR). The transition demands a total control conversion, data conversion, and extensive rewriting using third-party engines, often proving unrealistic and unprofitable. Our goal is to create an effortless solution for this issue, promoting the widespread use of AR/VR in professional 3D desktop applications. We propose a solution of local multi-user remote rendering, allowing control on mobile physical touchscreen devices or in open interactive 3D GUI, automatic generation of 3D models and depth maps from remote rendering data. This setup aids the integration of a physical environment 3D model back into the desktop application, all without the need for a comprehensive redesign. By simplifying the AR/VR adoption process in existing applications, our solution paves the way for more immersive and efficient professional 3D application experiences.
We provide an early demonstration of our innovative approach to integrating HoloLens 2's augmented reality capabilities with SkyLine's TerraExplorer, an application previously without OpenXR/OpenVR support. In our setup, the 3D view that the HoloLens 2 user experiences is actually rendered within TerraExplorer on a desktop system, then streamed to the HoloLens 2 over Wi-Fi. This method doesn't merely transmit a static 3D model; it streams the entire live application view. Consequently, this allows for the display of dynamic data and the instant reflection of any user actions made within the desktop application in the augmented reality view.
