AUGMENTED ΞNTERPRISE SUMMIT 2022 SPEAKER
Marisol Barrero joined Amazon Web Services in August 2021 to manage the global ergonomics program. Prior to AWS she worked for 15 years for Toyota Motor North America, ultimately serving as the Regional Ergonomics Manager, where she supported new model ergonomics, as well as ergonomics standards, tools, and systems. From 2017 through the time she joined AWS, Marisol worked as the Safety Innovations Manager, which is a unique role that she started. Under her leadership, in 2019 Toyota became the first company to implement more than 500 exoskeletons as personal protective equipment across its NA operations.
Prior to Toyota, Marisol worked as an ergonomics consultant with Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group and Humantech, as well as a researcher with the National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH). She received her B.A. and M.S. from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. She has been a Certified Professional Ergonomist since 2006.
Marisol is the co-founder and current Board member of the Automotive Exoskeleton Group (AExG), and is on the Wearable Robotics Association Executive Leadership Board. She sits on the ASTM Exoskeleton Center of Excellence Research & Development Committee and is a member of F48, the first external standard on exoskeletons and exosuits. She is passionate about emerging wearable technologies and how they can positively impact safety and human well-being, and is a regular speaker at various safety and technology conferences including Applied Ergonomics Conference, National Ergonomics Conference, WearRAcon, and, of course, AES.
